Why doesn't my memory card detect in my phone anymore?

I have had my 2gb micro sd card for my phone a while now and I turned my phone on and my memory card wouldn't detect. I took it out put it back in again and still nothing. I even put it in my computer micro sd adapter and still does not detect. I am really worried because it has all my music and pictures and videos I have taken which are really memorable and I want to know is there anyway I can fix that? Is there a way that my memory card will be detected?
